Every checklist, every partner relationship, and every sequencing principle we apply came from living what you are about to do. Visa. Home. Schools. Your partner’s transition. Your finances. All of it, in the right order.

Who Thrive360 Is For
The school search alone can make or break a landing. We handle placement, transition support, and make sure your kids arrive with a solid plan in place.
When one partner drives the move, the other absorbs the disruption. We plan for both careers, both identities, and both transitions from day one.
Legal recognition, community, safety, and belonging vary significantly across Europe. We know the landscape, and we help your family land somewhere that's genuinely home.
See our LGBTQ+ relocation guide →You have location freedom. We help you use it correctly. The right visa, the right tax structure, the right city for how you actually want to live.
Passive income visas, healthcare continuity, wealth structuring across borders. Your retirement should travel as well as you do.
What Thrive360 Covers
Most relocation services handle one or two of these. We handle all five, in the sequence that protects your timeline, your budget, and your family.
The right pathway shapes everything else — your timeline, your housing search, your financial structure. We help you understand your options, identify the most likely pathways for your situation, and connect you with a vetted immigration attorney who finalizes strategy and executes the application. For clients already mid-process, we coordinate directly with their existing legal team.
Remote property searches fail for predictable reasons. Photographs flatter, neighborhoods vary block by block, and lease terms in Europe carry obligations Americans do not expect. We provide curated neighborhood guides, remote rental shortlists, lease review, and viewing trip coordination. Housing search launches only after your visa timeline is confirmed.
School placement in Europe involves curriculum differences, language considerations, waitlists, and enrollment timelines that do not align with the American academic calendar. We research options, manage applications, and prepare your children for the social and cultural transition. School placement anchors the housing search. We sequence it that way deliberately.
One partner usually drives the move. The other absorbs the cost of it. Career continuity, professional network rebuilding, work authorization, and a genuine sense of belonging in a new city are not secondary concerns. They are the difference between a move that takes root and one that unravels in year two. We build a transition plan for both partners from the first conversation.
The layer most relocation services ignore entirely. Relocating to Europe does not end your US tax obligations. It reorganizes them. We establish your financial position before you leave, ensure your accounts are structured correctly from day one, and connect you with vetted local advisors who understand both sides of your obligations. Our Financial Intelligence function is available across all service tiers and as a standalone engagement.
Why Sequence Matters
The single most common reason American expat moves go wrong is not bad decisions. It is doing the right things in the wrong order. These are the sequencing errors we see most frequently and why they matter.
Your European bank reports to the IRS under FATCA from the moment your account exists. If your US filings are not structured before your first deposit, you are already behind. We establish your financial position before you leave.
Lease start dates and visa approval timelines rarely align. A lease that begins before your visa is confirmed creates either a gap in housing or a financial commitment you cannot yet legally fulfill. We sequence your housing search to begin only after your pathway is confirmed.
School placement drives neighborhood selection, not the other way around. The family that finds the apartment first and the school second frequently ends up in the wrong part of the city. We start with school research and let that anchor the housing search.
In Ireland, almost everything requires a PPS number. Healthcare, banking, utilities, employment, school enrollment. The queue is real and processing takes longer than most people expect. We begin this process before you land so you are not grounded on arrival.
Every European country has an equivalent. Ireland uses the PPS number. Portugal uses the NIF. Spain uses the NIE. The Netherlands uses the BSN. Arrive without one and almost nothing else can move forward.
Visa categories, dependent rights, and work authorization conditions vary significantly by pathway and country. A visa that covers your relocation may not automatically cover your partner's right to work. We assess both partners from the first conversation.
A will drafted in California does not automatically function as intended under Irish or Portuguese succession law. EU forced heirship rules and Brussels IV elections interact with US estate documents in ways that can override your intentions entirely. We flag this before you move.
This is why sequence is a service, not a detail. Every element of your move connects to every other element. We map those connections before we touch a single form.
The Financial Intelligence Difference
Every other relocation service stops at the border. Your tax obligations do not. This is the layer of your move that most services ignore entirely and the one that costs Americans the most when it goes unaddressed. We do not provide tax or financial services. We make sure you understand what you are facing, guide you through the landscape, and connect you with the right professionals in our vetted network to handle it correctly.
If you hold more than $10,000 across foreign accounts at any point during the year, you must file. Penalties for non-filing start at $10,000 per account, per year. Most new expats do not know this rule exists until they receive a notice. We make sure you know it on day one and connect you with the right professional to handle it correctly.
Your European bank is legally required to report your accounts directly to the IRS. We ensure you understand this obligation before your first deposit and coordinate with your tax advisor to make sure your US filings reflect what your bank will be reporting.
You can exclude more than $120,000 of foreign earned income from US taxation, but only if you file correctly and meet the physical presence or bona fide residence test. This exclusion is not automatic. We brief you on the requirement and connect you with a qualified tax professional who can claim it correctly from year one.
EU forced heirship rules apply in most member states. Brussels IV allows you to elect the law of your nationality to govern your estate, but only if that election is made correctly and documented before it is needed. We flag every client's estate position early and coordinate with qualified legal counsel where deeper engagement is required.
What happens without this
You move to Lisbon. You open a local bank account. Life is beautiful. You assume you have left US taxes behind.
Your Portuguese bank reports your account to the IRS under FATCA. You did not have professional guidance on FBAR obligations. The IRS sends a notice.
You pay a specialist $4,000 to $8,000 to resolve two years of missed filings, penalties, and amended returns. You also missed the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion entirely.
None of this happens. We brief you on every obligation before your first bank statement arrives, coordinate with your tax advisors, and make sure the right professionals are handling each requirement in the correct sequence.
"The IRS does not care that you live in Dublin or Lisbon. You still owe a US tax return every year. We make sure it is the last thing you have to think about."
